Other high yielding rates by Texas CU would be their 6 month 5.15% APY CD rate and 24 month 5.05% APY CD rate. This rate is only available to Texas CU members that have opened a savings account with them before. The minimum deposit to open a savings or checking account with Texas CU is only $5.
Because this is not an internet CD, membership for this Certificate of Deposit is open to anyone living in the vincinity of La Porte, Texas which is located right outside of Houston.

Usually credit unions will work in a locality. Also, you will find that you are eligible for a better deal if you will use your credit union through your place of employment to help you invest your money. That has been my experience working in the corporate job market.
